Case Studies: A few examples

Picture
The next few pages contain examples of the design process that we've presented.  The examples use a set of worksheets that were developed to provide a framework for the design process.  We've provided a download link to the worksheets as pdfs.  These worksheets should be seen as tools, and not the only way to do the design process.  These design problems were chosen because they were varied, and because we could think of many solutions that would be interesting.  The following links will take you to each design problem:

Case Study 1 -- Shoelaces Coming Undone

Case Study 2 -- Drought in the West

Case Study 3 -- Cave Questions

Some of the worksheets are followed exactly, some are followed generally, and in a few of the examples some parts of the worksheets are omitted.  The design process, and any tools used should be implemented in the most effective way for the designers.
